Our mission statement

“To develop and implement a plan that stimulates interest in nursing research and educates HHS nurses to utilize nursing research in practice and better understand the impact that research has on the populations they serve."

Research Strategic Goals

  1. Stimulate research to improve nursing care,
  2. Stimulate the establishment of networks to communicate nursing research in the federal sector, and
  3. Educate federal nurses in the use of nursing research in practice.

 Research Strategic Objectives 

  1. Establish goals that support the collaboration and linkage between research groups and identifies research opportunities (G2)
  2. Stimulate research efforts designed to improve nursing practice in federal environments (G1);
  3. Support nursing research efforts of ICN, NINR, STTI and other professionally recognized nursing organization (G1/G2);
  4. Collaborate with Tri-Service Nursing Research and NINR (G1/G2);
  5. Create a forum for communicating research issues related to nursing policy and practice in federal environments (G2/G3);
  6. Educate federal nurses on opportunities available to develop nurse scientists (G3)

 Research Initiatives: 

  • Establish a research subcommittee
  • Assign a champion to work with the tri-service research group
  • Provide policy guidance and recommendations relevant to nursing research to the CPO and N-PAC Chair
  • Establish a web presence that disseminates information related to nursing research and their opportunities
  • Gather research findings that support practice, education, research, and health care policy and practice in nursing
  • Identify scholarship, internship, and fellowship opportunities for the development of the nurse scientist
  • Identify pertinent nursing research opportunities in workforce development, clinical practice, and workplace development

Background

The Research Committee was commissioned by the N-PAC to establish an agenda that supports the awareness and use of research in nursing practice across federal sectors.
