USPHS Surgeon General's Honor Cadre

The Ceremonial Unit of the Surgeon General's Honor Cadre (i.e. Honor Guard) was founded by the Surgeon General, VADM David Satcher, in October, 1999. The Honor Cadre is composed of officers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication to the Commissioned Corps.

Members of the Honor Cadre are noted for their knowledge of protocol, ceremonies, close order drill, knowledge and practice of uniformed service courtesy, and daily wearing of the uniform with pride and distinction. They serve as outstanding ambassadors and representatives of the Commissioned Corps wherever they are.

The Honor Corps is looking for dedicated, exemplary officers in your agency/category who can serve in this capacity, specifically in the DC metro area. If you are interested, please FIRST get approval from your supervisor - it will take time away from the office and in, most cases, your travel expenses are paid by you, and not necessarily your Agency or the agency where you perform services. After you have supervisory approval, you may e-mail CDR Robin Scheper or LCDR Tobey Manns. For additional information, please check out the web site at: http://www.surgeongeneral.gov/aboutoffice.html#sghonor
